California Senate Bill 1323 (Archuleta 2022)

Sil originated and drafted the langauge of Senate Bill 1323 (2022). The bill was designed to protect Californians facing foreclosure by requiring homes in foreclosure to be sold at their market value on the MLS with the help of a realtor - the goal was to prevent lenders from needlessly extinguishing the homeowner’s equity through an under-market auction sale to a cash-investor.

Sil collaborated with Sponsor The Consumer Federation of California (CFC) and Author Senator Bob Archuleta (SD 30) to build a strong coalition of consumer groups in support of the bill. Sil testified in support of the bill in the California Assembly Judiciary Committe and California Senate Judiciary Committee. The bill was ultimately unsuccessful.
